Officers from the Darien Police Department were dispatched to Chase Bank on Noroton Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m.on Monday, Dec. 31, where there was a report of a woman attempting to cash a check with an alleged fraudulent identification.

Police said that the responding officers spoke with the bank teller who dealt with the suspect at approximately 5:50 p.m. earlier that day. The teller said that a white woman with dark hair entered the bank and attempted to cash a check.

According to police, the suspect provided a New York State driver’s license in an attempt to complete the transaction. Investigators said that the teller “didn’t feel that the appearance of the female matched the date of birth on the identification.”

When challenged, the suspect “told the teller (she) was rude, took the identification back and left the bank.” The check was never presented. The incident remains under investigation, no suspect has been identified by investigators.
